Case history – Ore contact mapping

 

The cross-section to the left shows the down-dip extension of a massive sulphide orebody inferred from three 60m spaced surface drillholes. Many questions still had to be answered in order to optimise the mine plan. For example:

 Where exactly did the ore pinch out?

 Was the ore continuous?

 How much did the ore thickness vary?

 Was there more ore down dip?
